Student Parliament Session at The Indian Heights School

The Indian Heights School, in collaboration with PRS Legislative Research, organized a Student Parliament session to provide students with a practical understanding of parliamentary procedures and the legislative process. This educational event aimed to simulate the functioning of the Indian Parliament, helping students grasp the intricacies of democracy and governance.

The session began with the national anthem, followed by an oath-taking ceremony where student parliamentarians pledged to uphold their duties as Members of Parliament (MPs).

Students were assigned various ministries, such as Forest, External Affairs, Health, and Education. Acting as MPs, they raised questions and provided answers related to their ministries. This emulated the parliamentary question hour and emphasized accountability.

The main focus was the discussion on the E-Commerce Regulation Bill, 2024. Students, dressed in Indo-formal attire, debated the bill's provisions, merits, and potential impact on citizens.

The session featured a question hour where students critically analyzed the bill and an amendment session where they proposed and discussed changes. This highlighted the importance of informed debate and legislative flexibility.

The event concluded with the national song. The Student Parliament session at The Indian Heights School effectively imparted practical knowledge about democratic processes, preparing students to be informed and responsible citizens. This initiative demonstrated the value of innovative educational methods in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application.
